Wines of the Month - April/May 2009

NEW ARRIVALS
from Chateau de la Selve Coteaux de l'Ardeche
We have just received our first shipment from Château de la Selve in the Côteaux de l'Ardèche region (North-West of the Southern Rhone vineyard area). The estate uses typical Rhône grapes plus Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. We have chosen a gutsy Red in the style of a Vacqueyras or Gigondas, a deliciously refreshing pale crisp dry Rosé and a wonderfully fragrant dry White made from 100% Viognier.
The estate is owned by the Chazallon family and the wines are made by their son Benoit. Viticulture and vinification are 100% organic.
Please note that in addition to ordering wines on their own you may order a mixed tasting case of 2 bottles of each of the three wines.
White Wine
2008 Cuvée Saint-Régis Viognier
Château de la Selve 
Made from 100% Viognier, the Cuvée Saint-Régis is a deliciously flavoursome fresh unoaked dry white with aromatic peach & apricot fruit flavours. Great as an aperitif or with fish dishes.

Rosé Wine
2008 Cuvée Magelonne
Château de la Selve 
Deliciously refreshing light, crisp dry rosé made from 60% Grenache, 30% Cinsault & 10% Syrah. Great as a summer aperitif or good with charcuterie and salads.

Red Wine
2005 Cuvée Serre de Berty
Château de la Selve 
Gutsy red made from Syrah, Merlot & Grenache. Full-bodied with smooth tannins & a long finish. Rich spicy character reminiscent of a good Gigondas or Vacqueyras. Great with roasts & other hearty meat dishes.
