About us
I started The Haslemere Cellar in Lower Street,
Haslemere, in 1991 having done a traditional trade apprenticeship
with a leading London fine wine merchant from 1986 to 1990. In 2001 we moved to smart new premises at 16 West Street and my wife
Jennie joined me full-time in the business.
From the beginning we have aimed to choose wines
that truly represent their regions of origin. Wherever possible
we buy from small producers with whom we have established links
over the years.
We sell a wide range of fine wines from both Old & New Worlds. We started with the classic regions of France,
Germany, Italy and Spain. Over the years we have expanded into
Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and California. We now find
ourselves offering new “classics” from less well-known
wine-producing parts of Europe such as Sicily,
Portugal’s Alentejo & Bairrada regions and emerging
areas of Spain including Rueda & Priorato.
Throughout the year we offer many special
offers of wines both for immediate drinking and for laying
down (including en primeur claret, port etc.). Click
here to register and receive details.
We always have a range of mature Claret, Burgundy,
Rhône wines and Vintage Port in stock. Our Champagne comes from two
small but distinguished houses – Georges Gardet, who make
our House Champagne, and Gosset who, having been founded in 1584,
lay claim to being the oldest “Grande Marque” in Champagne.
We have a comprehensive range of fine spirits from, amongst others,
Ragnaud-Sabourin in Cognac and Baron de Sigognac in Armagnac plus
special bottlings of Malt Whiskies, Bourbon and Caribbean Rum.
We offer a nationwide mail-order delivery service.

At The Haslemere Cellar you will also find wine
accessories including Riedel glassware,
for which we are a regional stockist, plus a selection of fine
Havana cigars and excellent coffee from the
Exchange Coffee Company.
We run regular programmes of tutored wine tastings
in Haslemere (see events) as well as
conducting tastings for many of our corporate clients. Please
enquire for further details.
We pride ourselves on our knowledgeable, professional
but informal style. We look forward to welcoming you to our shop
in Haslemere or to hearing from you by telephone
or e-mail.
