We first shipped Tokaji Aszu from the thoroughly splendid Tokaji Classic estate of András and Phyllis Bruhács last year. The wines are mid-way in style between the very fruity wines of some modern estates and the partially oxidised style of the old state co-operative wines of Iron Curtain days. In other words the quality is high but there is an acknowledgement to the wines of history that made Tokaj famous.

1999	Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos, Tokaji Classic	50cl	£24.50
	Sweet with nutty, mature rounded peach & apricot fruit character. Great balancing acidity. Has the structure to last another 10 years but is already drinking well.
1998	Tokaji Aszú Essencia, Tokaji Classic	50cl	£75.00
	Much more intense concentration of honey, almonds and very ripe raisiny fruit balanced by great acidity. Hardly any of this is made and we are lucky to have been allowed a small allocation. Gold Medal winner at 2003 International Wine & Spirit Challenge.
